Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
His release from the hospital follows the boxing community offered its support for the fighter in the wake of the terrible crash.
