Similar to the recent storm hit the northwest the night before, the home side overwhelmed the visitors aside at the their home ground. It was a convincing three goal triumph for the City coach's side owing to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a display that clearly signaled their leadership claims as they consolidated their position at the league summit.

Consecutive Losses for United

This outcome signalled successive Women's Super League defeats for the United manager's side for the initial occasion since last May, placing them seven points off the top team with their title hopes hanging by a thread.

The hosts, meanwhile, could have added to their lead when a superb Miedema pass sent Shaw away only for her to miss the chance but it was insignificant to the winning team. Having failed to beat any side who placed above them the previous campaign, City's side now have victories against the Gunners and United to position them in a favorable situation after nine games.
